9th European Ramsar Meeting (ERM9)

Ramsar Convention on Wetlands organized the 9th European Ramsar Meeting (ERM9), in Olomouc, Czech Republic from 19 to 23 March 2018.

This interactive meeting aimed to prepare Ramsar Parties for the 13th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP13) that will take place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 21-29 October 2018.

The meeting focused on the goals and targets of the Ramsar Strategic Plan 2016-2024 and how their implementation contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. 

Participants were invited:

  • to identify areas of successful cooperation between different sectors of society, administration and private business.
  • to look at progress made with the implementation of the Ramsar Convention,
  • to look at how to support the efforts of the Ramsar Parties, partners and other stakeholders in preventing, stopping and reversing the global decline of wetlands.

Plan Bleu and its partners (MedWet, Tour du Valat, ETC-UMA, MAVA, Mediterranean Wetland Observatory and Interreg Mediterranean) co-organized the Session « How does the Mediterranean community contribute to the Ramsar Strategic Plan 2016-2024 » on Wednesday 21 March 2018 at 11.00 a.m, and animated a stand during the « Opening of the public evening ».
