Plan Bleu as a partner alongside the National Office of the Algerian Meteorology (ONM) and the African Centre of Meteorological Application for Development (ACMAD), attended to the 8th edition of workshops and forum PRESANORD (Seasonal Forecast North Africa) held in Algiers from 20 to 24 March 2015, under the patronage of the Algerian Minister of Transport, Mr Amar Ghoul.
This edition that focused on « Seasonal Forecasting and Climate Services for Risk Management », brought together a hundred participants, representatives of the countries of the southern shore of the Mediterranean.
After the Minister’s allocution, Plan Bleu presented its work and the way it deals with these issues through the studies it coordinates. In collaboration with UNEP GRID Geneva, Plan Bleu also presented the MedICIP platform (Mediteranean Integrated Climate Information platform) as a climate services to share information between data producers and users.

This aspect was fully highlighted by the 3rd Minister of transport’s proposal: « To create a collaborative space/platform to:
- disseminate the monthly newsletters for all sectors (public / private) which will allow them to anticipate risks.
- communicate, organize awareness-raising activities and implement collaborative operations between all sectors.
Risk mitigation of impacts may be possible in raising awareness around the weather forecast and prospective climate projections. »
